2020 Goal: Reduce waste disposed in the residential/commercial sector by 33% as we transition to “zero waste”. |
WRAT MissionThe Waste Reduction action team brings together recycling directors, solid waste management coordinators, corporate sustainability managers, waste haulers, educators and advocates to develop strategies to dramatically reduce waste by promoting reuse, recycling, and reduction. Action Plan
The team has co-sponsored educational forums on commercial and institutional composting, organized and promoted e-waste collection events, and launched a region-wide paper recycling campaign. Our current campaign focuses on reducing Food Waste, which makes up over a fifth of our landfill volume. The resources we have featured in our campaign and highlighted on this webpage offer information for you (as an individual, school, organization or business) to reduce the amount of food going to our landfills.
