Kids and adults alike have opportunities to learn about healthy eating at the Northside Farmers Market (NFM) in 2015.  As part of its growing farm-to-table initiatives, the market now offers monthly youth cooking classes in partnership with the Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center.  Baker Hunt’s popular Young Chef’s Kitchen will be offered on the second Wednesday of every month at the market from 4:30pm-5:30pm, in the North Presbyterian Church kitchen for ages 7-10.  Kids will get to cook with local foods, meet farmers, learn new skills, and take home recipes.

NFM also embarks on a partnership with Chef Ken Durbin of The At Home Chef.  Chef Ken will be at certain markets to answer questions about cooking with market foods, and to demonstrate skills and recipes.  Visit the market’s website for a schedule of appearances and for more information about Chef Ken, and for his market specific recipes.

The partnership with Baker Hunt along with funding from a USDA grant allows NFM to offer the each class for $3.00, and fee waivers are available.

The Indoor Market is located at North Presbyterian Church, 4222 Hamilton Avenue and runs from October 22nd-May 6th, 2015.  NFM opens every Wednesday from 4pm-7pm.
