Mom always told you to eat your vegetables… but why not drink them instead?
About this Event
Join us as we harvest and process fresh veggies from the farm to create a delicious autumnal wine and learn how you can go home and do the same yourself! Bring your Mom! She’ll be so proud you're finally getting your veggies.
Master Gardener, Allyson Ernst, shows us wine making that thinks past the grape and onto what can be done seasonally and on a budget. Wine. Just that one word conjures up images of expansive vineyards, sophisticated equipment, traditional family recipes, French chateaus, and expensive dinners at the finest restaurants. But wine is much less complicated or expensive than what we make it out to be. Wine can be easy, fun, and practical!
Allyson Ernst has been gardening since she could walk and has always had a life long love of learning, so she decided to make it official by joining the ranks of Master Gardeners last year. She loves to explore, experiment and teach others. She currently works for the Great Parks of Hamilton County and the MetroParks of Butler County as an Naturalist, teaching children and adults about what they find in their back yard. She took up the hobby of winemaking after her family's pear trees decided to have a bumper crop and she didn't want to see the fruit go to waste. Now she wants to share this timeless technique with others and encourage them to experiment in their own kitchens.
