Transit of Mercury

A transit of Mercury happens when the planet Mercury passes between the Sun and the Earth. This event is rarer than an eclipse, occurring only about 13 times per century. The transit will last from about 7:35 am until 1:04 pm. Safety is a priority when viewing the sun- you must have the proper viewing equipment. We will provide equipment and an accessible area for people of all abilities to view the transit. The Visitors Center exhibits will also be open on the day of the transit from 10am-1pm.
