Tri-State Trails Winter Quarterly Meeting
9 AM - 1:30 PM
Conducting Walk and Bike Audits
Tri-State Trails is hosting the "Conducting Walk and Bike Audits" training with Ohio Department of Transportation's Active Transportation Academy. This is a 4-hour training with a 30-minute break for lunch. We encourage you to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee will be provided. Registration is required by January 24 at 5 PM.
The course provides instruction on how local communities can determine if there is a pedestrian or bicyclist safety issue in certain neighborhoods or along particular corridors. It explains common causes of real and perceived safety issues and shows how walk/bike audits can identify problems using local knowledge and professional expertise. Instructors will review different types of walk and bike audits, helpful resources, such as walkscore.com, and special considerations around intersections, schools, and other potential conflict points and sensitive land uses. During the training, instructors will lead participants on a mock walk or bike audit at a nearby location that poses safety challenges to pedestrians and/or bicyclists. This course is eligible for AICP CM credits.
Parking spaces in our rear parking lot are limited and sometimes fill up, but there is ample on-street parking along Oaklawn Drive. Please do not park in spaces designated for Joseph Beth or in clearly marked "No Parking" areas. We encourage you to take public transportation, carpool or ride a bike. Our office is conveniently located along Metro Bus Route 11: Madison Rd/Oakley. Bikes are welcome in the building or can be locked to the front railing.
