We'll look at great retrofit and new construction projects

About this Event

This session will be offered via webinar due to public health concerns for public meetings. You will be sent a Zoom link for the meeting.

This session will take us from Midtown to Akron to Mars. Yes, you read that right! We will hear about the renovation of the Children's Museum of Cleveland. Once a Millionaire's Row mansion, this project demonstrated how a historic building can be transformed and become a LEED Platinum certified project. The new UH Rainbow Center for Women and Children was an exemplary new construction project, also LEED Platinum certified. They took feedback from the community before designing this beautiful Midtown facility. Akron Children's Hospital is a great demonstration of both renovation and new construction. We will learn how they are now consuming less energy with more square footage. Then, we're exploring Mars. Our speaker will talk about work being done with NASA to "grow" buildings on the Red Planet. We'll learn what bioterials are and how to create new construction materials from construction waste.
