Organization: Audubon Society of Ohio
After a long spring and summer of no events, we are going to attempt to do an invasive removal project at our Warder-Perkins preserve on Saturday, August 8, from 8 to 11 a.m. We don’t want a crowd, for obvious reasons. But of course pulling weeds doesn’t usually attract a big crowd.
The “weeds” in question are the invasive Japanese stilt grass, which is threatening our colony of the endangered running buffalo clover. If you would like to help out, please contact Scott Peak in advance, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-535-1126. We need to be able to contact you if we have to cancel this event.
We will provide cold water and bags for the pulled grass. We will be spread out on a hillside, so social distancing should not be an issue. You should be aware that the hillside is steep enough that you should be in reasonably good condition
Warder Perkins Nature Preserve has no direct street access. The property is reached from the back parking lot of the Crossroads West Side Church located at 8575 Bridgetown Road in Miami Heights (the Church has a Cleves, OH postal designation). After entering the church’s driveway, bear to the right and go all the way to the back of the parking lot.
Find a Google Map on the Crossroads Church website listed below. Be sure to click on the West Side location.
