About this Event

On the centennial of the day the 19th Amendment went into effect, this presentation will combine the critical yet forgotten role Ohio played in the fight for women’s suffrage and current barriers to voting rights. Katherine Durack, PhD, retired Miami University professor and curator of a recent exhibit at the downtown Public Library, will explain how the woman’s rights movement in the U.S. has deep roots in the abolition movement and connections to Cincinnati, including Woman’s City Club. Catherine Turcer, Executive Director of Common Cause Ohio, will then discuss obstacles to voting we are facing today.
