In a time when so many things are uncertain, one thing is clear: more people are going outside to walk, run, or ride a bike. As a result, trails, bikeways, sidewalks, and parks have been experiencing an influx of traffic during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet despite the proven physical and mental health benefits, some areas of our community still lack access to these basic amenities.

Join Tri-State Trails for our biennial Summit as we explore how access, equity, and justice intersect in our region's trail and bikeway network. We are excited to feature Tamika Butler as our keynote speaker on Thursday, October 29. Tamika has a diverse background in law, community organizing, and nonprofit leadership. As the Principal of Tamika L. Butler Consulting, she focuses on shining a light on inequality, inequity, and social justice. Most recently, Tamika worked for Toole Design as their Director of Planning for California and the Director of Equity and Inclusion. Before Toole, Tamika served as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, a non-profit organization that addresses social and racial equity, and wellness, by building parks and gardens in park-poor communities across greater Los Angeles. Tamika has also served as the Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition, the Director of Social Change Strategies at Liberty Hill Foundation, and California Director of Young Invincibles.

In an effort to make this content more accessible to a wider audience of residents and advocates, we are making our keynote session on October 29 free to attend.  If you are able, we encourage you to make a donation or sponsor the summit to support our work to connect and expand the trail and bikeway network in the Tri-State.
