Organization: Co-op Cincy

Power in Numbers is an opportunity for teams of Black Cincinnatians to work through the process of launching a cooperative business, and build Black wealth for the long term. Launching a Black-owned cooperative allows teams to work together, draw on each others’ skills and wisdom, and take advantage of the resources available to help you fund your business!

Each team that is accepted into the program and completes the 14-week curriculum and fieldwork will earn a certificate. On top of this, Co-op Cincy has access to a non-extractive loan fund designed specifically to get our graduates’ co-ops on their feet. We can help you craft a successful loan application, and provide continued support through our network of worker co-ops.

Members of the cohort will learn from co-op development professionals, as well as the other Black entrepreneurs in this space. The course includes tools to build and test a successful business, as well as the tools you need to design a worker co-op that serves your goals and values. Expect to spend at least 5 hours a week outside of class designing, developing, and testing your co-op business ideas!

Work it. Own it.

Applications due Saturday, August 21st, 2021

Cohort starts on Zoom on September 14th, 2021, and meets every week for 14 weeks. We may add in-person opportunities later if weather and covid considerations allow.
